What has changed?
In this release, we have added the ability to define pricing tiers for fees depending on the length of a booking event. Along with this comes an update to the Edit Booking Option page that segregates hourly and flat fees into their own sections. For each type of fee (flat and/or hourly), you are able to define both normal and tiered prices.
What is Tiered Pricing?
Tiered Pricing allows you to add fees to Booking Options that depend on the duration of the event that they are applied to. Hourly and flat fees each have their own tiers and Base Prices. For instance, if you wanted to give a “volume” discount when a customer books a resource, you could set a Booking Option like shown in the screenshot below. All tiered fees are marked as Auto Add, so the checkbox for that is not shown.
In this example Booking Option, Tiered Pricing is enabled and there is a single fee selected as the “base” fee. You can also see that there are two tiers defined; one has a Required Time of 60 minutes, the other has 120 minutes.
The correct tier is selected by comparing each tier’s Required Time to the length of the event and picking the one that is the closest without going over. So for our example above, if we have an event that is 1.5 hours (90 minutes) long, a fee will be added to the event for $250/hr.
If none of the defined fees are acceptable, the base fee will be used. For our example, any event that is less than 60 minutes will have the base fee applied to them.
