Up-selling products gives you the ability to promote optional services or products when a customer is purchasing a particular product. Not only can you offer the "option" to purchase other products, you may also want to automatically add products for free.
The first thing to be done is to create all of the products that you want to eventually display to the customer as a possible "add-on" or "upsell". If you want this product to be seen in the shopping cart when a customer is registering for a program via Dash Online, then make sure you switch the toggle to "Available Online".
Some good examples of upsell products would be to offer campers lunch, t-shirts, or extended day care. This feature can also be used to sell more items for birthday parties. You can offer Goodie Bags or assorted food choices. If the product selected to Upsell needs to be tracked for fulfillment you will need to enable Create Purchase Order on the Upsell product itself.
Once you have created all of the products you want to upsell or automatically add, it is time to go to the product that all of these will link to. For example, I may have a class that I want some optional and automatic products to appear for my customers. In this case, I need to go to my Class Fee product. There is an option on the left hand side called "Add-ons".
Start typing in your products you would like to add. If the program you are adding is a camp program, you can click the box to have the customer select which days they would like to buy the product for. If you would like the add-on product to automatically be added to the cart at no additional cost, there is a checkbox for this as well.
You can also add Passes as an Upsell. When you start typing in the name of the Pass you have created, you will be able to select it from the drop down in the "Passes" section. An example you may use for a pass is if someone is registering for a Skating Class they receive a free pass for Open Skate during the time of the Class season.
How it Looks
When a customer adds an item to the shopping cart, that has products assigned to be up-sold or automatically added, the customer will then see a list of those products or services.
When you have a product with an auto add attached, the quantity is not editable. Consider it a package price you get with the additional free add on product.
